Dental Implants
Dental implants can provide a permanent solution for missing teeth. Dental implants are composed of a titanium post, which is placed into the jawbone. An abutment that sits on top of the post, and then a custom dental crown gives the finished look. A dental implant is designed to replace a missing tooth by mimicking a natural tooth root. Both durable and appealing, dental implants are the most often recommended treatment option for one or more missing teeth.
What are the benefits of dental implants?
- Jawbone density preservation
- Natural-looking results
- Secure fit that allows you to eat and speak comfortably
- No rubbing or irritation on the gumline or soft tissues
- Long-lasting, and potentially permanent results
- Are cared for the same way you care for natural teeth
Who is a candidate for dental implants?
We will thoroughly evaluate your oral structures during the initial consultation and determine whether you are a good candidate for dental implants. If that is not the case, we will discuss alternative options to address your concerns.
Dentures (Complete and Partial)
Partial dentures can be an option for patients who are missing multiple teeth in certain areas of the mouth. In most cases, they are designed to fill large spaces between existing teeth. They can also be created to cover an entire section of the mouth. Custom-designed partial dentures are removable, with results that can look and feel very natural.
Crowns and Bridges
A bridge is a fixed dental appliance that replaces one or more missing teeth. They are cemented in place using the surrounding teeth as support. Typically, a bridge consists of two crowns that go over the two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and are attached to pontics (artificial teeth), to fill in the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A dental crown or bridge may be recommended to:
- Replace a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth remaining
- Cover a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth
- Protect a weak tooth from fracturing
- Cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment
- Restore a fractured tooth
- Attach a bridge
- Cover a dental implant
Metal-Free (Tooth-Coloured) Fillings
The standard in many dental practices today is to use completely metal-free fillings to treat cavities. These “tooth-coloured” fillings have supplanted the amalgam, metallic-looking fillings of the past, many of which contained small levels of mercury. Tooth-coloured fillings are composed of a durable composite resin material that can more easily blend in with the affected tooth’s natural colour, making it virtually unnoticeable. It can be used to fill cavities, replace old fillings, restore broken cusps of teeth, and to replace worn enamel.
Bone Grafting
This newly grafted bone builds up the jaw, making it stronger and bulkier, so it is ready for an implant or another restorative dental procedure. Dr. Khattra has been offering these procedures at our clinic for the past 11 years. She has done extensive training and continues to learn and enrich more on advanced techniques utilized for implant procedures.
