DentalCareWithouttheAnxiety
Dental anxiety is incredibly common. Whether you have had a negative experience in the past, feel uneasy about certain procedures, or simply prefer a more relaxed visit, sedation dentistry can help you get the care you need without the stress.
At Rocky Mountain Dental, we offer multiple levels of sedation so we can match the right option to your comfort level and the type of procedure being performed. Our priority is your safety and your peace of mind.

We offer three levels of sedation to suit your needs, from mild relaxation to deep comfort for more complex procedures.
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
A safe, mild sedative inhaled through a small mask over your nose. You feel calm and relaxed while remaining fully awake and aware. The effects wear off within minutes after the mask is removed, so you can drive yourself home and return to normal activities right away.
- Takes effect within minutes
- Adjustable throughout the procedure
- Wears off quickly after treatment
- No need for a driver
- Safe for most patients including children
Oral Sedation
A prescription sedative pill taken about an hour before your appointment. You will feel deeply relaxed and drowsy but remain conscious. Many patients feel so relaxed they have little memory of the procedure. This is an excellent option for moderate anxiety or longer treatments.
- Simple pill taken before your visit
- Deep relaxation while staying conscious
- Little to no memory of the procedure
- Ideal for moderate dental anxiety
- Requires a driver to and from the office
IV Sedation
Sedative medication is delivered directly into the bloodstream through an IV for a deeper level of relaxation. You will be in a twilight-like state and most patients remember nothing about the procedure. Vital signs are monitored continuously throughout treatment.
- Rapid onset and precise control
- Deepest level of relaxation available
- Most patients have no memory of treatment
- Ideal for complex or lengthy procedures
- Continuous vital sign monitoring
WhoBenefitsfromSedationDentistry?
Sedation dentistry is not just for people with severe anxiety. Many patients choose sedation to make their dental experience more comfortable and efficient.
Dental Anxiety or Phobia
If fear of the dentist has kept you from getting care, sedation allows you to receive treatment in a calm, relaxed state.
Strong Gag Reflex
Sedation relaxes the gag reflex, making it easier for both you and the dental team during procedures.
Extensive Treatment Needs
Sedation allows us to complete multiple procedures in a single visit, reducing the total number of appointments needed.
Difficulty Getting Numb
Some patients find that local anaesthetic alone is not enough. Sedation provides an additional layer of comfort and pain control.
Sensitive Teeth or Gums
If you experience heightened sensitivity during dental work, sedation helps you stay comfortable throughout the entire procedure.
