Congratulations on being affiliated with Fairmont, a first class corporation. While the benefits you are entitled to are set very clearly by Fairmont, claiming those benefits with service providers can often be met with delays and confusion.
Private insurance companies that cover you have a system in place that can be often tricky to navigate. Having worked with private insurance companies for the past 25 years, it is my pleasure to provide you with an easy to follow map of how that system works so you can make the most of your benefits.
In recent years, privacy acts have become the norm and information is not as readily available or shared. Because of this, insurance companies have stopped sharing information about the people they cover to the various service providers such as Dental offices. It is customary that the dental office sends claims to your insurance company on your behalf. Their response however, are now only sent to you, their client. Responses are no longer sent to dental offices which has created a break down in communication and created some confusion.

Once your Dentist has sent a claim to Great West Life there will be a processing time of 3 business days before a response from them is ready. Due to privacy acts only you, the insured is able to access this response and there are 2 ways of doing so:
By telephone 1800 990 6654 When you call you may get an automated message that says there are no agents available to help you, please call back later. If you get this message DO NOT hang up and wait for the message to be repeated in French. After this message you will be connected to an agent directly. After some security questions and providing your Plan and ID numbers, the representative will be happy to provide you with coverage status for treatment, estimates and how much coverage you have remaining. To save time, write down all the information given to you. Next, provide the information given to you to the Dental office that sent in the claim. This can be done by phone, email, fax or in person.
Online, go to www.greatwestlife.com From this homepage, click on Client Services on the upper right corner. On the next page, click on Forms for Group Benefit Plan Members. On the next page click on GroupNet For Plan Members. This will take you to a log in page. Bookmark this page using your browser to quickly log in the next time. If this is your first time using online services you must first register. Click Register now at the bottom of the screen. To register, you will need to enter your personal information along with your Plan number and ID number. Follow the steps and write down the username and password you select for future reference. If you have already registered then you need only enter your username and password to sign in. Now you will see everything that has been processed on your insurance and the status of any claims. If you see a * next to a claim, it means that you have to call in to receive additional information regarding that specific claim. To save time, either write down the information posted online or print a copy. Share this information with your Dental office by telephone, email, fax or in person and they will take care of everything else.
